Movie Nights (and Days) are Back!

You may love winter. You may hate winter. But one great thing about winter is that it brings movie nights back! Our first movie this season will be on Friday, October 22 at 1:30 PM. Many of you may not be able to make it, but many of you can, so bring your kids! There will be FREE popcorn. The movie is open to everyone. Sorry, we can't give out the title (because of a licensing agreement), but you can call us for more information (525-6524). Coming up soon: Classic Movies on Friday afternoons and Friday night movies once a month. Watch this blog for details. You'll be the first to know when!

Ray Perkins Is Coming!

Ray Perkins

Ray Perkins, local author, is coming on Saturday, October 16! This is going to be a great opportunity to meet Mr. Perkins. He will be reading from his book The Mystery of the Silver Statue and telling us about his new book, The Mystery of the Brick Kingdom. And he will be having a treasure hunt! This event is free for all. So be sure to  bring the kids and have a great autumn morning!

A special request for photographs from the dinner! I won't be able to photograph the event, so please email photos of it to me at bartonpubliclibrary@gmail.com. If you photograph faces, please get permission to publish. Thank you for the help!

Welcome!

October 2010
We've started a blog! Here you can catch up on what we're doing, read about our history, check our hours or our new acquisitions. There will be surveys, polls, contests and patron book reviews in the very near future. Our look may change as we hear your suggestions. So as we start, we'd like to ask you for:
  • your comments! Just click the word "comments" under each post and a form will open allowing you to leave a comment. If you have a Google e-mail address, you will be identified with your Google account.
  • your blogs and websites! If you have a blog or website, please e-mail us immediately so we can add you to our blogroll!
  • your reviews! If you like to share your opinions, we will have a place for you to do so. Just click the Share Your Book Review tab under the banner on top of the blog. We don't have to publish your identity, but we can if you don't mind!
  • your subscription! Subscribe to the RSS feed so that whenever we post new information, you will know about it.
  • your photos and videos! We have a Flickr site at http://www.flickr.com/photos/bartonpubliclibrary and would love to share your photos and videos. (We'll have a YouTube presence soon.) May we use them on the blog?
  • your questions! If you have questions about anything (computers, technology, books, policies . . you name it), ask! Ask in the comments or in an e-mail.. We want your suggestions for improving the library, too!
  • your Facebook! We'll soon have a Facebook page for you to either be a fan of or to like. Stay tuned!
  • your ideas! We want and need your ideas!
  • your memories . . . if you have memories to share of the library and/or Barton history or anecdotes, please share them.
  • your Tweets! Follow us at http://twitter.com/bartonpubliclib!
Be sure to check in on our blogroll (those are the blogs that we read) and our Shared Items (articles from the web that we want to share with you). You can find the blogroll under the banner of this blog in the Blogroll tab. You can find our Shared Items on the sidebar on the right. If you want to share with us, drop us an e-mail!
Come back soon to the blog and visit us in person soon!
